Local Parks
Roche-A-Cri State Park
– Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Roche-A-Cri State Park gained its significance as a natural landmark along French fur trading routes and archaeological importance from mysterious carvings of the bare rock of the south face. The park is 425 acres including the mound, wooded areas, camp sites, pavilions available for rent, and many nature/hiking trails. The park is located 7.8 miles from Timber Shores, with the entrance on Hwy 13 just North of the town of Adams. For more information, visit the park website. For a map of the park, click here.

Castle Rock County Park – 70 acre park located on Castle Rock Lake, Wisconsin’s 4th largest lake. The park is open for camping, including a swimming area, boat launch, game room, playground and heated shower and bathroom facilities. The park is located 4.6 miles South of Timber Shores on County Road Z. For more information, visit the park website.

Petenwell County Park – 160 acre park located on Petenwell Lake, Wisconsin’s 2nd largest lake. The park is open for camping and hiking, including a swimming area, game room, boat launch, playground, hiking trails and heated shower and restroom facilities. The park is located 10 miles North of Timber Shores. Take County Road Z 10.2 miles north and turn left on Bighorn Dr. For more information, visit the park website. For a map of the park, click here.

Van Kuren Trail – Located in western Strongs Prairie off Chicago Avenue on the shores of Lake Petenwell. A 2.7 mile year round trail with trail markers explaining features of the trail with a shelter and fire ring located near the middle of the trail. Beautiful views of wildlife, including bald eagles, nature and Petenwell Lake.

Quincy Bluff and Wetlands Natural Area – Quincy Bluff and Wetlands is a 10,500 acre natural area. Quincy Bluff rises 200 feet high and extends approximately two miles and encompasses wooded and open cliff areas. Lone Rock also in the area features 100 foot Cambrian sandstone cliffs. This is a beautiful wildlife area that allows hiking, turkey hunting, wildlife viewing and more. Quincy Bluff and Wetlands is a registered DNR wildlife area (No. 272). Boat Launches
Castle Rock Lions Park Boat Launch – located less than a quarter of a mile from the entrance of Timber Shores. Turn south on County Road Z from the entrance to Timber Shores, take first left (by Dakota Ln). Very nice public boat launch with parking spots available.

Island View Restaurant at Northern Bay
– A great restaurant and lounge. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Friday night fish fry and Saturday Night Prime Rib specials available every weekend. Spot in the Woods – Restaurant and bar open every day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and later. Large back dining room for groups with a selection of arcade games and TVs showing all the important games. A large assortment of burgers, homemade pizza and more are available. Splash Waterfront Restaurant and Bar – Island themed restaurant and bar with a large menu and fun atmosphere. Located less than a mile away from Timber Shores by road and by boat. By road, exit Timber Shores on go South on County Road Z, take your first right onto Dakota Land and drive to the end of the road. Michael’s Landing Resort and Bar – Full service bar with pool tables, arcade games and more. Michael’s Landing also features a full campground, boat slips and boat rentals. Located half a mile South on County Road Z just over the first bridge. For more information, visit their website.

South Shore American Fusion Restaurant – South Shore offers a large, unique menu with beautiful views of Castle Rock Lake. Seating is available inside their large dining room or out on their deck overlooking the lake. Dirty Turtle Bar, Grill and Marina – Dirty Turtle is a great restaurant on Castle Rock Lake for a family lunch or a night out with friends. They offer a large menu for lunch and dinner and lively night time activities including DJs, a dance floor, lights and many themed parties throughout the year. Boat rentals and a charter are available. Dirty Turtle is a quick boat ride across Castle Rock Lake with docks available or a 40 minute drive around the lake. Pine Cove Resort, Restaurant and Bar – Pine Cove is a great place to stop on a summer day while out on your boat on Castle Rock Lake. Point Bluff Resort, Restaurant and Bar – Just a 25 minute drive South on County Road Z, Point Bluff offers a great place for family fun. They offer a restaurant, bar with live entertainment and rental service. Point Bluff rents out canoes, kayaks, tubes, etc to be used on the Wisconsin River.
